Environmental Activity Packs

Environmental Exploration & Conservation Activity Packs

We are delighted to have worked in partnership with RSPB Scotland to launch two new activity packs to support Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorer Scouts and Scout Networks across the country to take part in action for nature.

These new resources - Environmental Exploration for Beavers & Cubs and Conservation for Scouts, Explorer Scouts and Scout Network - are an opportunity for Scouts across Scotland to get outdoors and explore the amazing habitats and wildlife nearby and further afield.

RSPB teams based in reserves across the country have committed to supporting Scout leaders and youth members to get involved and enjoy the natural world.

By working through the activities in the pack, youth members can gain or contribute towards numerous activity and challenge badges including the Global Challenge Badge, Explorer Activity Badge, Naturalist Activity Badge and environmental requirements for the Chief and Queen's Scout Awards.

Groups that complete the activities will also be eligible to claim an RSPB Wildlife Action Award.

Rebekah Stackhouse, Education & Youth Programmes Manager, said “We hope that these activity packs will enable more young people in Scotland to connect with nature and take action to conserve it, at the same time as achieving their Activity and Challenge badges. The packs have information on where to go, what to do and how to do it, from pond dipping and bug hunting, to nestbox building and gardening for wildlife”.

The activity packs can be used in a number of ways. You can either download them and give copies to individual members of a section to try at home or leave them as an online resource and simply incorporate individual or multiple activities into your weekly programmes.
