Scouting & Curriculum for Excellence

In Scouting we are very proud of the difference we have been making to children and young people's lives for over 100 years.

Supporting young people as they develop physically, intellectually, socially and spiritually, as individuals and as responsible members of their local, national and international communities is fundamental to the work our volunteers are carrying out each week across Scotland.

We provide non-formal education for our young people, and they are learning by challenging themselves, taking on responsibility, working in teams, taking acceptable risks and thinking for themselves. This is all part of the adventure that is scouting!

Curriculum for Excellence - the Scottish school curriculum - strongly encourages schools and education providers to work in partnership with local organisations to ensure our young people get the proper recognition for what they are learning, wherever the learning takes place.

The Scout Association in Scotland is keen to embrace this challenge, supporting local volunteers to foster partnerships with the schools their young people attend.
