A look back at the Campsie Challenge weekend
02/10/2008

Over 170 Scouts from all over the country converged on Auchengillan for the Campsie Challenge Weekend organised and run by the Scottish Fellowship last weekend (27/28 September). Whilst many Scouts participated in a wide range of on-site activities including raft building, team building, Scouting skills, mountain biking, climbing & abseiling and cat walk, some chose to participate in the off-site Black's of Greenock Campsie Challenge and Vango Lunar Challenge.

The Black's of Greenock Campsie Challenge saw 9 teams compete over the two days and was won by the 4th/6th Stirling (main picture below) who were presented with a Patrol Tent for their Troop courtesy of Black's and a 3 person cook kit, courtesy of Vango. Runners up were the 107th Pentland (below left) who each received a Vango sleeping bag and in third place the 5th Greenock (below right) who were presented with personal cook kits.

The Vango Lunar Challenge, an incident based night hike, had 15 teams participating and was won by the 107th Pentland (main picture below) who each received a 3 person cook kit. In 2nd place was the team from the 44th Glasgow (below left) and in 3rd the 5th Greenock (below right).

We are again grateful to the Scottish Fellowship for their organisation and support of this event, in particular to Duncan Millar for his work with the on-site activities, to Keith Armour for organising the Campsie and Lunar Challenges and also to Black's of Greenock and Vango for their continued and very generous support of this event.
