The Meggernie Centre lies on the South Bank of the river Lyon at Bridge of Balgie, in Glen Lyon, Perthshire, Scotland’s longest and loveliest glen). The area is rich in flora and fauna and has also played a colourful part in Scotland’s history.
The Centre is a former farmhouse converted by the Trustees of the Donald Searle Outdoor Activities Charitable Company and leased by The Scout Association. The remainder of the farm steading is still used and the whole forms part of the Meggernie Estate owned by the Trustees of Meggernie Castle.
The Centre provides an opportunity for Scouts and other organisations to experience and gain some understanding of a working Estate and the factors that have shaped the countryside as we see it today.
Wildlife is brought close up in the field study room and we have a powerful telescope on site for star gazing.
