Leading our Future

A 24-hour event for the Key Managers in the new structure for Scouting in Scotland

16 / 17 February 2008

Scottish Police College, Tulliallan, Kincardine, Fife.

An invitation to all ‘New District’ Commissioners and Regional Commissioner Teams

‘Leading our Future’ is a hugely important event in the final run-in to the launch of a new operating structure for Scouting in Scotland. This 24-hour event brings together the key volunteers responsible for management of the new District / Region structure from 1st April 2008. Invitations are extended to DCs of the ‘new’ Districts, Regional and Assistant Regional Commissioners and SHQ Team members.

As one of these key volunteers you will make an important contribution to the final weeks of the change process by helping to review progress, identify information gaps and issues that require timely guidance, and to finalise the key linkages between Districts, Regions and SHQ for programme and volunteer support.

The event aims to support, inform and consult with its selected audience. It will be highly interactive, provide opportunities for you to develop knowledge and skills specific to your vital role, have a particular focus on programme, and showcase some real Scouting examples of good practice for development and communication in Scotland.

Through funding from the National Youth Organisations Support Fund linked to the Scottish Government’s National Youth Work Strategy, there is no charge for participation. The event starts with lunch on Saturday 16th and finishes with lunch on Sunday 17th. Accommodation is in single en-suite rooms. The facilities will provide an excellent environment for Region Team building. In addition to team based core programme participation there will also be space and time programmed for meetings of Region/DC teams.

Districts

If you as DC cannot come then please ensure that a senior member of your District Team attends.

Regions

There are six places available for members of each Regional Team. It would be particularly helpful to have RCs and ARCs present. However, if any cannot attend please ensure representation from Office Bearer and/or Advisor members of your team.

To register for the event, please complete the registration form and return to SHQ by 14th January.
