Chief Commissioner of Scotland

Eleanor Lyall completes her term in office as Chief Commissioner of Scotland in July 2011. The search for her successor has now commenced. We are seeking to appoint an individual with passion, vision and energy, who can lead, enthuse and inspire others to develop more opportunities for young people and adults in Scotland to enjoy the Adventure of Scouting.

As Chief Commissioner of Scotland, you will be responsible for ensuring support and leadership of Scouting in Scotland, working chiefly through the teams at Scottish Headquarters and the eight Scottish Regions. In addition, as part of the UK Chief Commissioner's team, you will have a key role in shaping the future of Scouting across the UK.

You will apply your own strengths to inspire and motivate your team. The time you can devote to the role will shape how you lead a dynamic and vibrant Movement. You will be a confident and effective public speaker.

You will receive direct support from your line manager, the UK Chief Commissioner, from the SHQ Team and the Scottish Board, as well as professional staff support from Scottish Headquarters. This is a volunteer role and full reimbursement of travel and related expenses will be made in accordance with the Association's policy.
