Course Description

Although not a pre-requisite it is often useful to attend a training course to update your experience or build your confidence before an assessment.

This course will include all aspects of the Summer Terrain 1 Hillwalking syllabus:

• Route Planning before and during walk
• Group Management
• Risk Assessment
• Weather
• Navigation skills and Techniques
• Lightweight Camping Techniques
• Emergency Procedures
• Personal and Group Equipment

Navigation will be on open mountainous ground, working towards the standard set out by the MLTUK Walking Group Leader Award.

Course Information

You will need warm clothing, waterproofs, comfortable boots and a rucksack. You will be provided with all necessary safety equipment but if you have your own you are more than welcome to bring them.

Course costs includes food, accommodation and equipment.

A reasonable level of fitness.
