Staff Vacancy: Assistant Secretary

We are now seeking to appoint a new member to the staff team at Scottish Headquarters to support a broad agenda for Scottish Scouting, but with a particular focus on areas of internal and external compliance.

This role would suit an individual with a strong understanding of the Policy, Organisation and Rules (POR) of The Scout Association, or someone with organisational compliance or policy experience.

Key tasks will include:

  • Providing authoritative information and advice in relation to the Policy Organisation and Rules of the Scout Association, to include Scottish Variations from POR
  • Administration, advice and practical support in relation to The Association’s adult vetting requirements, including PVG
  • Administration, advice and practical support in relation to the operation of the Scout Association’s complaints and disputes procedures
  • Primary support to the Appointments Secretary for Scottish Scout Headquarters
  • Secretary to key sub-committees of the Scottish Board
  • Compliance oversight with respect to Health and Safety responsibilities of Scottish Headquarters
  • Supporting aspects of personnel administration

Other details:

This is a part-time post, based on a working week of 22 hours, the pattern of normal hours to be agreed with the appointee, with hours to be worked in accordance with the requirements of the job, which requires evening and weekend duties.

Operating principally from Scottish Scout Headquarters, Fordell Firs, Fife

Duration: Initially for 2 years, but with a view to permanency

Salary: £17,857 (£28,408 per annum pro rata 22/35 hrs)
