We are delighted to announce that the Chief Commissioner has appointed Colin Williamson to succeed Duncan Riddell as Regional Commissioner for the South West Region, with effect from 1st February 2012.Colin was an enthusiastic cub and scout in the 60’s. His first adult leadership role was in East Kilbride District. More recently he was a district explorer scout commissioner in Nithsdale.
He has worked in various management and senior management roles in the public sector in Scotland and overseas, including a period as a Regional Chief Executive with Scottish Enterprise.
He is now retired and lives just outside Dumfries. His wider interests include being a volunteer speaker for Save the Children and involvement in local charities engaged in befriending and enterprise in schools. Said Graham Haddock, "I have every confidence that Colin will prove to be a fitting successor to Duncan and an able leader for the Region, supporting and developing the excellent scouting that currently takes place in South-West."
