Purpose:
The Development Fund exists to provide financial support to projects that
will extend and improve the quality of Scouting provided to young people in
Scotland. Projects to provide direct support to Scout Groups are especially
encouraged, in keeping with the strategic commitment of the Scottish Board to
maintain 'A Focus on Scout Groups'.
Scope:
There are no restrictions to the type of project for which funding may be
provided. However, applicants will
be asked to explain how the project will benefit young people in Scotland.
Part
funding up to a maximum of �2,500 will be considered. Applicants will be required to state how the balance of the
funding will be achieved.
Accounts:
Certified accounts must be
submitted with each application, except in the case of recently formed groups.
Details of any money held which is reserved for a particular purpose eg
deposits for summer camp etc should be given.
Timing:
Applications may be submitted at any time of the year but will be considered by
the Scottish Executive at their meetings in January, March, June, August,
October and December of each year. Applications
must be made in advance of the money being required.
No funding will be awarded retrospectively.
Support:
All applications will require counter signatures of support from the District
and Area Commissioner.
Application:
Applications must be submitted on the standard Development Fund Application
Form. These forms are available from Scottish Headquarters, The Scout
Association:

Evaluation:
All successful applicants will receive
a Development Fund Evaluation Form at the time that they are expected to have
completed their project. It is a
condition of acceptance of the award that the evaluation form be completed and
submitted once the project has concluded. The
Scottish Executive reserve the right to visit funded projects at any time.
