Event Description

What is GAPP?

The Global Awareness Partnership Project is a way of finding out about International and Environmental issues through fun activities.

How can I take part?

Following the great success of the previous weekends, the third weekend event is planned for Friday 13th to Sunday 15th 2009. The cost has been greatly discounted to £10 as we have received substantial funding from the Department for International Development. It's taking place at Auchengillan Outdoor Centre, near Glasgow. The weekend is suitable for all Explorers and Network members as well as Leaders.

What's the plan for the weekend?

You can arrive from 7:30pm on the Friday night for fun activities. The main event kicks off from 9am on Saturday. All sorts of different activities will be happening on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday night we'll have a great meal using Fair Trade produce. We'll wind up at about 3pm on Sunday.

What do I get for my money?

Accommodation all weekend. Food is provided from Friday evening through to Sunday lunch including Fair Trade Feast on Saturday evening! You'll also get resources to take away with you to run GAPP sessions as part of your Unit or Sectional programme.

Is there a catch?

Not really. The principle behind GAPP is one of peer education. By the end of the weekend, we hope you'll have gained some of the skills to be able to run some GAPP activities locally.

What do I need?

Activity dress, indoor shoes, outdoor clothes (for activities - weather permitting), sleeping bag.

How do I apply?

Fill in the application/personal detail form with a cheque for £10 payable to 'The Scout Association' to Scottish Scout Headquarters, Fordell Firs, Hillend, Dunfermline, Fife, KY11 7HQ.
